Very good question. You have heard me talking about meditation a lot, so I’m not gonna go into detail, but walking meditation is literally what it sounds like.
You’re going to walk not the whole time, but for a big part of it. Let me first explain how the walking meditations work that I have been doing over the last 30 days.
So I am doing one of the walking meditations from Dr Joe Dispenza. He has quite a few on his website, and there are for sure other people who provide walking meditations. I just love the one that I have been doing for the last 30 days.
How it starts is that I stand somewhere, of course, very safe, so not in the middle of the street. And I have my headphones on and I close my eyes. That’s how the meditation begins. And the reason for that is for me to be able to really get into that meditative state. To slow down and to get into my inner world and slow my brainwaves down.
So the first 10 to about 15 minutes, I concentrate on that through the guided meditations of Dr Joe. And then I open my eyes and before I start walking, I put myself kind of in a trance.
That’s like a daydreaming state. So yes, you look where you’re going because that’s very important. But you are not really focusing on the details around you. You are going into kind of a stare, a trance state, which is very similar to the meditative state, and that’s when you start walking. You do that for about 10 – 15 minutes.
Then you are asked to stand again in the meditation, and get back into that meditative state. Concentrate again on your inner world. Then open your eyes again. Get into a trance and walk one more time. The meditation closes with you standing and concentrating on your inner world.
Now every meditation can be finished just by standing and at some point, you come back and you open your eyes and you go back to your normal life. Or there is as well the option to actually lie down because lying down is really good for your nervous system to balance itself out.
All the information that you just collected throughout that meditation, all of that nice juiciness can really sink into your nervous system if you lay yourself down and really, really relax and let go.
Now. That is not so practical all the time. It might be nicer in the summer. It’s better if you have somewhere to lie on, like grass or a beach. That is fantastic. I have not been doing that over the last 30 days. Quite often I’m not really near the grass. I’m more in the forest area, and the last two weeks have been very muddy and very rainy.
So no lying down for me. But soon I’m going on holiday, I’m for sure going to do walking meditations there on the beach. And there I’m going to lie down because it’s a lovely, lovely part of the meditation. That’s kind of how walking meditation works. And really the important bit is that you stay safe when you wanna try it out for yourself, please do not do it very close to a street where there are a lot of cars and when you are walking and there might be other people around, just be conscious of it.
Another really good question and the reason for you to try out a walking meditation yourself is to practice with your eyes open. That is really the important part of walking meditation. You practice with your eyes open.
Now let me take a step back. What do I mean by practice? When we are meditating, we have a particular reason why we meditate. We maybe wanna create a new self, a new future self. Or a dream that we have that we want to manifest or we might work on something else.
And if you are working on going towards something, you want to turn yourself into a new version of yourself. Then that’s what you concentrate on in your meditation. Now, in the walking meditation, you have the possibility to practice your future self, your new self, not just with your eyes closed and therefore visualizing it just on the inside, but you can actually walk as your future self. So you’re involving much more of your body, which you wouldn’t be doing if you are just in a sitting down meditation.
So that is the benefit of doing walking meditations by opening your eyes. You’re actually putting yourself into that state of your future self during that walking meditation. It just goes on another level, so much deeper inside of your body.
And of course, we want our future self at some point to turn up in our life, right? Whatever we want to turn into or manifest in our lives, we want it actually to be in our life at some point. So the walking meditation gives you a really good practice to already feel like you already achieved it and you are already your new future self.
Yeah, so quite a few things that I experienced. I mostly did walking meditations when I was on one of the retreats or if I was travelling. Sadly, when I came back home after each travel and meditation retreat, I would just not do the walking meditation, and that was one of the reasons why I did the 30 days because I really wanted to get to practice and then to a routine and habit to actually do the walking meditation here at home.
Now, what has changed over the last 30 days? I would say so many things, but let me pick the top 3 that have changed for me.
Really dropping deeper into the meditative state. Even while I was standing and being outside. There were a lot of distractions, sometimes rain, sometimes cars nearby or maybe even people or dogs.
But I can say that over the 30 days I have improved so much more to really disconnect from my environment when I was standing and had my eyes closed. There have been a few times, especially in the last 10 days, where I was really deep in the meditative state. I didn’t even really recognize or feel my body anymore, and I never had that before.
So I really improved into going into that meditative state deeper and deeper while even standing, which was a fantastic improvement to have.
So I have been doing Dr Joe’s walking meditation number 6, and during the standing time and even the walking time, you’re concentrating on certain energy centres or chakra centres during that meditation. I have experienced over the last 30 days that I have been feeling so much more of that energy in those centres.
And even in the totality of my body during the meditations. From the first few days until now, it is a huge difference in how much more I can disconnect from the 3D physical world and really move more into my energy body and really feel like an energetic being.
That energy flowed up and down through that guided meditation. That has been a huge, huge improvement and success doing it over the last 30 days. That was mind-blowing!
I get a lot of AHA moments, insights, and messages throughout my meditation, and these are not deep messages. These are quite often very practical things. Like ideas for my business and all kinds of things. And really, to be honest, quite normal daily things that come suddenly to my mind that I think I would’ve never thought about before.
And the last 30 days, given that I did every day over an hour of that walking meditation, that was of course a really good meditation practice. So no surprise there that I got a lot out of it. A lot of ideas, a lot of insights, and a lot of inspiration because of course when you’re in your meditation, the doors are open between your conscious and your subconscious mind.
I wanted to see if I can do it. I don’t think I’ve ever been able to really rigorously for 30 days to follow through on something and I wanted to see if I can do it. And yes, of course, we can all do it. It just takes some discipline and overcoming yourself. That is really the true statement for me why I did it: I wanted to overcome myself.
I knew that in these 30 days I would come up against myself, my comfort zone, and my beliefs that I could maybe spend my time differently. In a more productive way, whatever would come up, I knew something would come up and I wanted to prove to myself that I can overcome it and that I am greater than my current self.
If I can overcome my current self, I am much more likely to turn into the future self that I do want to become. And that’s why I really wanted to do it.
It was about overcoming myself and seeing if I can stick with something and if I can overcome these limiting beliefs that I knew would come up. And they did, especially, around the time in the middle, I would say at day 13, day 14. That was as well the time the weather here in Germany got a little bit worse and it started raining and getting wet.
That was the time where for about three days the meditations were fine, but not great. There was not much improvement. There was of course the weather, so there was a lot of stuff suddenly coming up that I had to overcome and say: No, I’m still gonna do it. I’m not going to quit.
And I’m so glad because, after that, it got even better than I could have ever expected. As we always know that when we can overcome ourselves and our limiting beliefs, then we know that something else is on the other side that we can’t even imagine how good it will be.
And that was really my experience. And of course, having now really completed the 30 days, I just feel accomplished and so fantastic about myself that I really have stuck with something for 30 days, and I think I can just recommend it to anybody.
It doesn’t have to be something that is over an hour long. You can chose something much smaller. It should be important to you. I just invite you to try it out and do something for 30 days. It gives you so much strength in yourself and so much confidence that you are greater than you can actually imagine.
And you will be proud of yourself and much more importantly, you will feel worthy, worthy to receive what you actually want to receive. Worthy to become the person that you do want to become. And that’s why I went through these 30 days of walking meditations.
And the clear answer is: No! Why would I stop now? I don’t know if I will keep up every day but I will give it a go.
I wanted to create a habit, to create a routine where I actually get myself in doing it on a regular basis. Will that be every day? I don’t know. Probably not.
I want to start another 30-day routine in October. This experience of overcoming yourself and really creating a new habit is truly important to me now.
So I’m going to start already my next 30 days with something else. And if you follow me on Instagram, you will see all about it on a regular basis.
So in a nutshell, no, I’m not gonna stop walking meditations for sure not. They are just so magical, so powerful, and frickin amazing. Try them out for yourself. Here is a link to Dr Joe Dispenza’s walking meditations.
