Our topic today is: ENERGY. It has been a while since I shared with you tips on how to protect your energy. And today I selected 4 areas in your life where you are quite possibly depleting your energy – without even knowing it. Only by becoming aware of these areas, you will find moments where you can make small adjustments to get your energy back. And who does not want to have more energy in their lives?!?

For years I lived my life always feeling tired or exhausted. Sometimes I already felt tired just getting out of bed. My life was a constant battle of having enough energy to get through my day just to crash exhausted onto the sofa every evening until it was time to go to bed. The thing is that I thought that was normal. That is how life feels like when you spend a lot of energy on your career.
Never did I consider that I could feel differently. How can you if you don’t know how it could feel differently, right? And all the other symptoms that resulted from my low energy levels like bad moods, frustration, self-judgement and self-pity were again just symptoms of a busy lifestyle. Or so I thought.
I am sharing with you how it felt to me because I want you to become aware in case you are in a similar situation and feel like this. I want everyone living a life like that to awaken to the possibility of living a different life. A life where you have energy, where you don’t crash at some point during your day, where you don’t get frustrated for feeling tired all the time.
If you do feel like that, then please hear me when I say that this can be changed. Over the years I have changed a lot to be the person that I am now. But I know that at the beginning of my transformation, I started with little changes and quickly after that these small changes had a huge impact and gave me the proof and energy to keep going on this transformational journey.
So what I am saying is that you don’t have to make huge changes straight away. Small adjustments over time compound to bigger changes inside of you. And every little adjustment that you make releases energy back into your life to keep going and for you to live a more energized life again.
I want to share with you 4 areas in your life that you might not recognize as being areas where your energy levels get highly impacted. Most people are not aware of these, so they don’t look to make changes there. Makes sense, right?
So I am not going to talk about the typical areas that other people tell you to concentrate on to protect or increase your energy like nutrition, exercise, regular movement, sleep, and work-life balance. They are all obvious and well-known areas where you can make changes that will impact your energy. As I said, the 4 areas that I am going to share with you are often overlooked but the possibility for you to waste or lose energy because of them is truly immense.
Before we get into them, let me briefly set the scene around energy. Everything is energy. Everything in this reality including your body is made up of 99.99999% energy. And everything that is happening in this 3D reality in this continuum of spacetime is an exchange and transformation of energy. Energy is never lost, it just transforms and changes. A typical exchange of energy is, for example, the interaction with other people. Everything we think and feel is energy. Each one of our thoughts is energy with a particular frequency like a radio station.
You might hear this information about energy for the first time or you have heard this before. But just go along with me here as it will help you be open for the information that I am going to share with you today. So let’s get into it.
The first overlooked area where we spend a lot of our energy is the interaction with people. Any interaction with someone else is a transfer and exchange of energy. And that can be helpful or not so helpful. Today we are of course talking about times when interaction with others depletes our energy. So let’s look at all the times that this is the case.
An interaction lowers our energy as we interact in a way that makes us feel lower vibrational emotions which we mostly call negative emotions. If we in our interaction with others complain, judge, gossip, make excuses, or blame, we have low-vibrating thoughts and feelings during this interaction. And as we are spending time in this low energy, it has an impact on our overall energy.
Being engaged with behaviours that create these negative thoughts and emotions drains our energy levels. And we don’t even have to be a contributing party. Even if we don’t say anything but we are part of the conversation these lower vibes influence our energy if we are not used to protecting ourselves from them.
It means that you can take on the lower vibrational energy from other people. You can be sucked into the drama of others and deplete your own energy even if you are not really part of that drama.
The best advice, of course, is to reframe from behaving in such a way and if possible distant yourself from situations where others are complaining, blaming, gossiping, and judging. But if you are in an environment where you cannot escape it easily, be aware that this is happening and that you don’t have to participate. Just being aware creates a separation between you and the energy that you don’t want to take on.
Most of this is of course happening without people being aware of what they are doing to their energy through this behaviour. It feels familiar to them, that’s what they are used to, it serves a purpose for example to be part of a group – even if that group of people just get together to exchange negative thoughts and emotions.
You might have now a few realizations of where in your life you might have these situations and environments. Remember I talked about small adjustments. A small adjustment can be for you to become aware of these behaviours – in yourself or others. And you always have a choice when you become aware of something. You can continue or you can change it.
Every time you catch yourself or someone else and you stop and decide to talk about something different, you win. You shifted your energy and that will have an impact on the energy available to you for enjoying your life. Remember small changes compound over time to huge transformations.
The second life area which is often overlooked and can influence your energy and vibration is all of the information that we interact with. Predominantly the information we consume for example on the news, via Social Media, the radio while mindlessly driving to work, and the TV shows that we watch.
Think about what I just told you about the interaction with people and apply the same to your interaction with the information that you consume. The same rules apply. If you watch and consume information that has low vibrations and create negative emotions and thoughts inside of your body and mind, then it lowers your energy levels.
When we watch TV like the news, advertisement or our favourite TV shows we move quite quickly into a state of trance. And the trance state is where we are deceptible to information. Our subconscious mind reads all data as if it happens to us. It does not know the difference that something is happening on a TV screen instead of it happening in your life.
I actually stopped watching certain programs recently that had high levels of violence, chasing scenes and lots of surprising moments. The reason is that I realised that it set off the fight and flight response of my nervous system and that is not good. This part of the nervous system should just be triggered when actually something happens in my life and not just on the screen.
So I decided to change what I watch on TV to protect my energy. And I have mentioned this many times before that I do not consume any kind of news. This kind of reporting of what happens in the world is so harmful to our health and our vibration that I consume as little as possible when it comes to the news.
First of all, what are things that you don’t need to consume? Do you need to listen to the radio station while driving to work or can you listen to a CD or playlist to cut out advertisements or sensationalist news reporting?
What is the information that is playing in the background for you? Just because you are consciously not listening to the TV, the radio or something else playing in the background, that does not mean that your subconscious mind is not listening to it. Because it is. All information goes in, just a fraction of it gets reported to the conscious mind. But you still take in all of this information.
I even now care about the music that I listen to and the words that get used. I have playlists where the words in the song are predominately positive – and most of the time I listen to music that has no words at all.
So the importance is again on becoming aware of what you consume and making better choices. That does not mean you have to stop watching your favourite TV show because it’s full of drama. What you can do is consciously separate yourself from what happens on the screen. Tell yourself aka your subconscious mind that this is not your life but you are just about to consume a TV show that has nothing to do with your life. Now, your subconscious knows that it does not have to take everything you hear and see personally.
The third area that most people often overlook when it comes to energy is our words – and that includes our thoughts, so not spoken words. We covered it partly in life area number one which are the words we say in the interaction with people.
But in this area, I want to concentrate on the words we think or say about ourselves. The reason is that we are generally much more harsh, resentful, critical or judgemental about ourselves than we would ever dare to be to somebody’s face. Just to give you a few examples: “Oh, I am such an idiot. I forgot to do this.” “Can I not do anything right?” “I am just so weak. Why can I not be as strong as this other person?” “Oh, I forgot to do the washing. I am so stupid.”
We say these things automatically. They became familiar to us and it’s just a normal way we talk to ourselves. But would we ever talk like that to our partner, our children, our parents?
Remember how I said that everything is energy? And so are the words that we think and say. They have a frequency.
I love this experiment with water by Dr Emoto. You can find various videos on this on YouTube or Google. In these experiments, they either put a glass of water on a written word, or the glass itself has a particular word engraved on it or they play a tape of somebody saying particular words. And then they look at the water structure under a microscope.
The molecular structure of the water showed beauty, coherence and brilliant patterns when it was a positive word like Love, Peace, or Appreciation and the structures turned into blobs with no patterns or coherence when they were influenced by negative words like Hate or sick. And we know that our bodies mostly consist of water, right?
Become aware of how you speak to yourself and what you have become accustomed to. Just by bringing awareness to them you can stop them, say things differently or even move to speak more positively and appreciative to yourself.
The fourth and last life area we are going to cover today is the state of being that most people are living in, which is the state of stress. We think we need to be busy to be successful, to be seen as successful by others or just to be seen as a valuable part of society.
But being in a state of stress costs a lot of energy. We all know by now that most of our illnesses are the results of a high-stress lifestyle. And even if living under stress might not make everyone seriously ill at some point in their life, it for sure has an impact on their energy levels.
The sad thing is that we are not aware that we are in a constant state of being stressed. I was not aware of this just a few years ago. But I know that it was the reason why I burned out and always felt low in energy. I first had to learn what actually makes us move into the state of stress and how does that actually look like. Now I am even teaching this to my students in the ENERGY ACADEMY.
When we know how to move out of stress, we can move into a state of recovery where we actually create energy for ourselves. The state of stress depletes and drains our energy and the state of recovery lets us refill our energy batteries. Makes sense, right? But most people don’t know HOW.
