This is going to be my most vulnerable episode yet. I feel called to share more with you about how I experience my life’s journey and my personal journey of change that I experience now for a few years. So lean back, relax and let me share with you the behind-the-scenes of myself.
It could seem from the outside that I have my shit together. But I don’t. I still have lows in my life even though I have been on a spiritual growth journey for the last few years. And by sharing more about myself and how I feel, I want to normalise and lift a veil on the expression “spiritual journey or awakening”.
You might have already come across my invite for the Enjoy Your Life Masterclass happening next week, at the time this episode goes live. In that Masterclass I teach you how to enjoy your life again. But just because I teach you how to bring more joy back into your life, doesn’t mean that I enjoy my life 100% of the time. Because I don’t. I want to be clear on that. Being on a spiritual journey doesn’t mean that you are happy and in peace every single day. You are not.
The difference between me right now versus me before I started this journey is simple maths. For all of you who like science and logic, it all comes down to the percentage of time that you spend either miserable or enjoying your life, with a lot of other emotions in the middle, of course.
Back when I was in my old personality and in my old life I would probably not enjoy my life for about 95% of my waking hours. Over the years, I have looked back at my former self and have found that just a minimal amount of my day I actually enjoyed. Most of the time I either disliked what I was doing, I was stressed about stuff happening around me, I was busy worrying about the past or the future, and so on and on.
A good test you can do for yourself to see how much of your day you spend enjoying is to reflect on your thoughts. How many of your thoughts in your day are positive and negative? That gives you a good indication of what kind of state you are in during your day. And my days were mostly filled with negative, worrying, anxious, judgmental, and self-pity-filled thoughts. That was my reality.
Comparing it now to my current self it’s probably about 50/50, sometimes more and sometimes less. I know that this is a journey but it’s important to me not to lie to you. Just because you decide to go on the journey of spiritual growth which means to go within and discover your true self, doesn’t mean that from now on life is easier or better. If that were the case everyone would be doing it and they don’t.
On the one side, it feels disheartening to reflect that half of my time is still spent on not enjoying my life. But obviously, I have learned something in the last few years. I have learned to accept what is and celebrate myself more. Moving from enjoying my life 5% of the time to 50% of the time is an amazing progress. And this progress is possible for you, too. One way is to come and join me next week in the Masterclass.
What you will learn next week is going to change your life. That doesn’t mean it’s going to be smooth sailing from there on out. Nothing is easy when you start learning or doing it. It’s not easy or sounds pretty the first few times you play the piano. It’s not easy or safe when you start learning to fly a plane. And that’s the same as what I teach you in the live training next week. If it were easy everyone would be doing it. And they don’t. But what you get out of it is a huge increase in enjoyment of your life. It’s simple math.
Why do I not enjoy my life more than I do, you ask? I move back into lows in my life on a regular basis and they still suck. The difference now is that I know what is happening to me and how I can help myself through such a low.
When I am in such a low, I don’t know yet the answer to it but I have the awareness that an answer is waiting for me. I have practised enough to be an observer in my life that I can move temporarily out of that suckiness of the low into looking at myself as being in the suckiness. And that allows me to distance myself from it, even just temporarily. I can be at times the observer instead of being 100% of the time stuck in that low in my life. Does that make sense to you?
And when I become aware that I am at another low in my life, I now have the tools and the knowledge to help me through it. Not to get me out of it straight away. I realized that these low phases in my life are part of life. They always teach me something and I get something out of them. So I don’t try to run away from them, hide from them or fight them. But I use the tools and knowledge that I have now to help myself through it instead of staying stuck, like I would have been as my former self.
These are the moments that account for the 50% of my time that I don’t fully enjoy my life yet. And even throughout those lows, I will have, for most of the time, the trust that something good is waiting for me on the other side of this low. Either an insight, a new experience that adds to my spiritual growth, or I am able to let go of something that frees up my energy and moves my frequency closer to my authentic self. So there is something to look forward to on the other side of this low.
I see it like that: Where there is a low, there is a high. And the high is coming after the low. I trust that it’s going to be there and I am fine with myself experiencing a current low. Is it pretty? No. Does it feel ok? No, it doesn’t. BUT I know what to do to help myself. And I keep trusting.
I want to say thank you for being here with me. It felt very freeing to share this part of me that is still struggling to enjoy her life. Same as you. And like I said, please join me next week to learn how to shift the percentage of your day that you currently enjoy to a higher amount. Sign up for the Enjoy Your Life Masterclass right now before you forget it and miss out on this huge step on your spiritual journey.
