I am sharing with you my own journey with change. It’s my job to teach people how to change so it might be a good idea to share with you how I am changing – and how my changes have developed.
I have started my journey with change exactly where you might be right now. Wondering why the heck it does not work and why change is so hard. So let me tell you my story and the insights I thankfully received so I finally understand how true change works – so you can do it, too!

Before my burnout, I always loved change in general. I loved changing locations where I lived, changing jobs, changing companies, and changing my hobbies. I loved and welcomed change in many different forms.
But like most of us, I always understood change to happen or be made on the outside, in the 3D reality that we are living in. So if I am not happy with my job, then I have to change the job or the employer. And I did a lot of it, I have a CV to prove it.
I just did not know that I was trying to fill a hole inside of me that could not be filled by changing my job every 18 months. I did not know that I wanted to feel other feelings than I had to change on the inside. Back then I really did not understand that.
And if I did not understand it, I always reflect on how many other people don’t understand this. And like me try to change how they feel by making changes in their lives on the outside and never feeling any differently – at a minimum, not long term.
We can make as many changes on the outside as we want but if we don’t change something on the inside, we just keep repeating it all over again. We always end up where we started or in some cases even worse than before.
So when I would change jobs again and again I always ended up in the same place. Yes, the initial phase was exciting and new and then 6-12 months down the line I would feel exactly how I felt before plus an additional level of frustration, disappointment and hopelessness. I could just never change that feeling that I would get after a while when the newness of a change wore off.
Then 2.5 years, when I accepted that I was burned out and took some time away, I did something very impactful that would change my life and that feeling inside for good.
I made a decision to not go back to work until something inside of me fundamentally would change. I remember this conversation that I had inside with myself. I just made this strong decision to myself that I would not go back to work in the same state as when I left it. Otherwise, I would just repeat the same thing over and over again and would end up in burnout months or years later again.
With everything I know now, I better understand what happened at that moment. I made an impactful decision that had such determination and energy behind it that my unconscious took it seriously. Finally!
And the shift that then happened was so significant that I knew I changed on a fundamental level. But I did not plan it, it kind of came to me. Did I put myself in the right situation to receive that change? Did I do the right things for me to change? Yes, but how did I know how to do it? It just came to me, as if an inner voice whispered into my ear what I had to do next.
I know now, just since very recently, that it was the determining decision that I made that helped me to change and that kicked started all of the changes that happened afterwards for me to be able to overcome my burnout AND change myself that much that I know that I will never burn out again.
I quickly started to have a lot of new insights and learnings about how we work, how our energy works, and how our brain and body work and I used it all and put it bit by bit into practice back at work. I just kind of played with it – trial and error style.
Looking back at the changes now, they were not even so big in comparison to the changes I am currently going through, but back then they felt huge to me! And I know I will say that in 1 year again.
And the changes I started to make back then were changes on the inside. It finally clicked for me and I started to experience what it meant to change on the inside and the outside world will change magically. Changes on the outside started happening more as a result of the changes I made on the inside. And until today this feels like magic to me. I have so many examples, synchronicities and serendipities that happened since then, and still, I am in awe every time a change happens in my 3D reality seemingly by magic.
Change has now become a daily practice for me. Either I focus on it through journaling, knowledge building in my area of self-development or meditation. Actually, most days I do them all because I know now what happens when I do them, so why would I not do it? Why would I ever want the magic to end?
And has it become easier? No, actually it has become harder but I am stronger to make that change. The changes I am making now are bigger and therefore it takes more energy, more focus and more strength to make them but I know that magical changes on my outside will happen because of me doing the work on the inside.
For me, at this moment in time, there are 2 main ingredients for my change journey:
And that is my rollercoaster journey with change for the last 2.5 years and I am sure when I come back and do a similar episode in 1 year, I will be again another person with so many new things to share.
In essence, don’t think that change is plain easy for me just because I teach it to people. Yes, it has become more normal for me, familiar, natural, and automatic – but it still needs effort and focus to overcome myself every day.
And “overcoming yourself is the becoming process” as Dr Joe Dispenza always says. Overcoming yourself constantly is the main thing you need to focus on and DO to become the person you want to become.
